Changshu Dongbang Nicanglou locates in Guanzhi Village of Dongbang town, Changshu City. It covers a total area of 130.46 hectares, of which 105.9 hectares are wetlands, accounting for 81.1% of the total area. The wetland is rich in natural resources, waterways and has a plant and animal species diversity. According to field investigations, there are 70 species of plants belonging to 41 families, 39 species of fish (10 families), 52 species of birds (23 families), 7 species of amphibians (4 families), 9 species of reptiles (6 families) and 11 species of mammals (8 families). Some are national or provincial protected species of flora or fauna, for example Paradoxornis heudei and Mustela sibirica.

In recent years, conservation, scientific restoration, rational utilization and sustainable development have led to many changes in Dongbang, such as wetland construction, water restoration. There are also exhibitions of traditional agricultural practices from the south of the Yangtze. Communities have been built near the wetland focusing on organic agriculture. Today, Nicanglou has been transformed into a rural wetland park, which has led to ecological wetland restoration, agriculture demonstration, and as an exhibition of local culture. The project tries to achieve the goal of combining production, ecology, and wildlife together in harmony.
